Our Subgroups

K.A.D. Reuvens

K.A.D. Reuvens is the subgroup where everything revolves around the Mediterranean, focusing on, but not limited to, the Classical archaeology of the region.

Named after the inventor of archaeology, Caspar Reuvens, this subgroup will bring to you events related to everything from the Mediterranean coastline. Think wine, chariot racing, gladiator fights, mosaic making, and so much more! Make sure to catch the Reuvens board at their next event!

Abya Yala

Abya Yala is the subgroup all about the Americas. Northern Native Americans, Inkas, Maya, the Caribbean — Abya Yala has it all.

The Kuna, an Indigenous people of Panama and Colombia, use the term Abya Yala to refer to the American continent. This translates to "land in its full maturity", "land of lifeblood", or "noble land that welcomes all". Nowadays, the term is commonly used to replace colonial names. Our subgroup revitalises traditions, crafts, and other aspects of the lives and culture of two continents and all of its archaeological regions. Come find the Abya Yala board during the Olmec head forming, during the Bob Ross Paint Along, or any other event they host!

Nabu Na’id

Nabu Na’id is the subgroup for Middle Eastern archaeology at L.A.S. Terra. They cover everything from the first states of Mesopotamia to the later kingdoms of the Levant, all the way to the Arabic conquest of the Middle East.

Named after the last king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, their events are the perfect fit for everyone interested in the region — and anyone else can join to get a taste! Join their hummus-making workshop, their cuneiform writing event, or any other event they will host!

A.A.D. Maitreya

Maitreya means friendship! This subgroup has lots of friends from all around the globe since Maitreya encompasses all of Africa, Asia, and Oceania. They proudly bring attention to regions historically underappreciated in Western archaeology.

Combining the diverse and rich archaeological record of not one, not two, but three continents, Maitreya can draw from many different cultures and periods of world history. They will provide you with events from the kingdom of Aksum to the Ming dynasty, all the way to prehistoric Aboriginal Australia.

L.A.D. Situla

L.A.D. Situla is not only our oldest subgroup, but also regards the oldest period that L.A.S. Terra covers. Being responsible for all events regarding European Prehistory and the Middle Ages, Situla provides a mix of periods, cultures, and events.

Although this subgroup’s name comes from the Latin word for buckets, the name is more meaningful to Dutch archaeology than one might think. The chieftain’s grave of Oss features a “situla” used as an urn, which came all the way from across the Alps. This prehistoric find is one of the most important artefacts discovered in the Netherlands, and therefore is a fitting namesake for our prehistoric subgroup. Join their sword fighting workshops, their Viking ship crafting event, or any other events they host this year.
