L.A.D. Situla
L.A.D. Situla is not only our oldest subgroup, but also regards the oldest period that L.A.S. Terra covers. Being responsible for all events regarding European Prehistory and the Middle Ages, Situla provides a mix of periods, cultures, and events.
Although this subgroup’s name comes from the Latin word for buckets, the name is more meaningful to Dutch archaeology than one might think. The chieftain’s grave of Oss features a “situla” used as an urn, which came all the way from across the Alps. This prehistoric find is one of the most important artefacts found in the Netherlands - and therefore a fitting name for our prehistoric subgroup.
