The Dutch Symposium of the Ancient Near East (DUSANE) 2026 is a collaboration between L.A.S. Terra and Pleyte, the study association for Ancient Near Eastern studies, to platform ongoing research into the culture, languages, and archaeology of ancient West Asia.

This year´s theme, “To rise from the ashes” explores how societies of the past have adapted to challenges throughout time through a diversity of topics, methods, and disciplines brought to you by our great set of speakers.

This year, the symposium will take place, for the first time, in the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden. Make sure to join us for an engaging afternoon of all things history and archaeology of the ancient Near East! No sign up required.

Location: Rijksmuseum van Oudheden

Date: 16th of April

Time: 10:30 AM

The Experimental Committee is proud to present: The Experimental Archaeology Days of 2026!🌾🔥

They will take place on April 23rd and 24th at Van Steenis! On the first day you can look forward to the workshop day filled with practical hands-on approaches to experimental archaeology. Expect glass bead and bone needle making, beer brewing, flint knapping and experiments in the lab! 🦴🔬

The second day is going to be a symposium with expert speakers in their field, giving talks showcasing the broad applications of experimental approaches to archaeology. The symposium will open at 10:00 (walk-in starts at 9:30) and end at 17:00 with two breaks for lunch and coffee. To round up the two wonderful days we will finish with faculty drinks! 🗣️☕

More concrete information will follow - so keep an eye out! ✨
